Does time flying by make you as anxious as it does me? Time anxiety, to me, is the fear of running out of time or wasting time, and it is a real problem that people struggle with every day.
Here we are with another 365 days in the rearview mirror, waving goodbye to us as we trek onward. Wasn’t it just New Year’s Eve yesterday? We wonder.
Did we spend our time wisely this year? Are we going to have many, many more years? Should I overhaul my life? Make a big change? What will life be like in 1,5,10, or 20 years? The questions swirl around in our minds like rushing water with nowhere to go, so what do we do?
Firstly, we take a deep breath together and remember what the Bible says. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” (Philippians 4:6 ESV) God is with you, and He hears your anxieties loud and clear.
Secondly, we accept that our days are already written by God. We need not worry about how much time we’ve got left because God has already decided what our lives will look like. If you’re his child, there’s no fear in death at any point because you’re headed straight to the Savior’s arms in heaven. There is only a happy ending for believers in Christ after this life. It’s still hard for our flesh to accept, I know this all too well, but it's more reason to live every day to the glory of God, and to enjoy all He has blessed us with.
Lastly, we can rest knowing that wherever we are in life right now, it is where God has us for a reason. I admit that I’m not where I thought I would be at 30 years old, and I have immensely struggled with that as of late. The past few years for me have been wandering-in-the-desert-like-Moses seasons, and it has heightened my time anxiety. I’ve often wondered what God is doing through this season. Can you relate? However, we are where we are supposed to be, and God is writing our story, even the chapters that feel like a waste.
God wastes nothing in our lives, and I know He has a plan for you and me. So take a deep breath, thank Him for all He has done and is doing, and enjoy every day he gives you.
Draw closer to Jesus every day.
Read your Bible.
Pray.
Love others.
Kiss and hug loved ones every day.
Enjoy the blessings.
Take a walk in God’s creation.
Work hard.
Serve others.
Live a life that points to Jesus.
I hope that 2026 is a year full of peace and God’s blessings.
Happy New Year’s Eve! 🥳
