Educational + Fun Homeschool Project For Your Kids This Winter: The 7 Wonders of The World

I don't know about you, but homeschooling during the winter months can be tough. The winter season forces us to be inside more than usual, and it is so dreary that it tanks motivation. Can you relate? During the winter months, I like to set aside some time to add in more hands-on and project-based learning to keep my kids engaged. They love a good project, so this week we embarked upon a project that I called "The 7 Wonder's Of The World" (Modern List of Wonders). Here's how the project works:

  1. We watched some YouTube videos on all the wonders of the world, and then I had them choose a wonder from the list. Here's a list you can use!

  2. Next, they had to write a page about the wonder they chose. We printed off some articles about the wonders, and then they wrote a paper on the facts they learned. I had my 2nd grader write a half-page paper, and my 5th grader write a full-page paper. I helped them edit their papers, and then they wrote their final draft on a special printable I created (linked below for you if you'd like it).

  3. Then, I told them they had to create a replica using things they found around the house. Their creations were so creative and neat!

  4. Lastly, I had them present their projects to our family before dinner, and it was a blast!

This project taught them geography, public speaking, writing, researching, and more! I hope you'll try this out with your homeschoolers, and let me know how it goes!
